Lansdowne Park

Located in Central Ottawa, adjacent to UNESCO World Heritage Site the Rideau Canal, Lansdowne Park spans 40 acres. The City of Ottawa aimed to renew the civic sports and fairground property with the idea of creating a world-class attraction. The site’s urban design plans included the commercial aspects of the redevelopment and the design for building sites, streets, plazas, and bike lanes.

With a design focused on pedestrian use, Lansdowne Park features activated public spaces, restaurant patios, and year-round programming (including weekly farmers’ markets, weddings, festivals, and a music venue). The design’s pedestrian and cyclist priority allow for a walkable community that ties into multi-use pathways along the scenic Rideau Canal and links to surrounding neighbourhoods. The modern streetscape design at Lansdowne blends amenities, heritage buildings, event venues, and green spaces for a multi-faceted space.

Situé dans le centre d'Ottawa, à proximité du canal Rideau, site classé au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO, le parc Lansdowne s'étend sur 40 acres. La Ville d'Ottawa avait pour objectif de rénover le terrain de sport municipal et le champ de foire afin de créer une destination de calibre international. Le programme d’aménagement comprenait la refonte de l’organisation des espaces publics, des continuités piétonnes (rues partagées) et cyclables.

Les espaces autour du parc Lansdowne comprennent des places publiques animées, des terrasses de restaurants et une programmation tout au long de l'année (marchés fermiers hebdomadaires, festivals et salle de concerts). La priorité accordée aux piétons et aux cyclistes permet de créer un quartier apaisé qui s'intègre aux sentiers polyvalents longeant le canal Rideau. La conception contemporaine des espaces publics de Lansdowne allie les commodités, les bâtiments patrimoniaux, les lieux d'événements et les espaces verts pour créer un espace aux multiples facettes.
